Race in America

Race in America. Shouldn’t that mean anything to anyone?

I suppose that depends on how skin color has had relevance in your lifetime.

Or haven’t you noticed?

We all pretend.

In many ways.

In the best manners it is out of love when we withhold our most present fleeting thoughts and impulses in tow, furthermore to the greater satisfaction and sustenance of those around us rather than test all they assume to be true and had no direct part in…in their minds.

But why do we still separate?

The momentum of entrenched torment which has been enshrined in law for centuries, as if change would be upsetting somehow to the current madness that this momentum imposed and must be constantly reinforced by brutal measures

[It must be. Because people wouldn’t allow it if they truly allowed themselves to know.

So it must be obscured. Beaten down. Dismantled in education & dissent.]

This reels in succession to our current situation.

People always forget,

and those which are on the other side of ignorance continue to suffer.

I have always found it disgustingly relevant when anyone expresses to me how things are and why we should not worry.

Better to worry about your rent or car payment compared to anything outside your immediate control and the pretentious need to sanctify morality in your own terms or care about anyone you haven’t already met.

That passes as good fatherly advice in this twisted society.

Warranted or not, we all have our own death sentence.

There is no reason to prolong suffering before any man’s or woman’s time is due.

To do that,

to enforce mortality upon another without due course——

To kill the spirit of the body-

To cut life with words or strife,

Or roads through your house,

In any small or big way

Is contributing to the ultimate sin

of forsaking your neighbors, your family

and designating them lesser than human

by your actions

through and through.

Some will never know that ultimate sin is in front of them,

yet it is all around us.

We all have mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, friends, cousins, pets, daughters, sons.

So what comes between us and everyone else who we don’t see as the same and we don’t fully understand?

Well what makes you think you’re the example everyone should be beholden to?

If you ever wondered what it means to be misbegotten, just look at the results of how we all are relegated by even conceiving of the terms of “race”.

Whatever the winners or losers of this construction, we are all worse off for it,

Because it doesn’t truly exist.

We’ve become a nation which utterly thrives on division,

And we all take a stake in it, even if we choose to obstain

Because obstaining necessarily sanctions whatever the powerful choose to do

Yet find ourselves bewildered all the same -

Other than the wildly delusional become panic-stricken by the vast calamity of it at times.

But we should be mystifyingly vexed, because this is not who we are.

As long as there are white people and white ways of being

which by their very nature exclude all others, deem them as problematic

in culture and nature

And enforce systems of maintaining domination

WE have to be honest about what that means, and those of us who are born into this system and are identified as white in it

Must understand that we do not see it unless we are around others that are affected by it in ways we are not

And educate ourselves as to its full costs.

We did not necessarily create it, and we are not individually responsible for it unless we knowingly or unknowingly propagate it.

But we do benefit from it.

Until it is fundamentally dismantled,

We will continue to struggle with it and through it.

I dream of a day when I can truly deny being white.

Until that day I’ll have to deal with it,

And the strange conversations of how I benefit from it while still dealing with all the other aspects of life that anyone else does. I don’t want that benefit.

It makes it worse for all of us.

I’d rather we find a way for all of us to be together equally.

Life creates enough burdens to make everything so interesting anyway.

We don’t need race to make things even more confusing. But I can’t refuse the concept by myself without acknowledging all the history and all the current gargantuan impositions across generations this has created.

And how many have been killed and persecuted because of it, so unnecessarily.

I guess I’ll just continue to be white.

Wow that sucks.

Cheers
